Clear Creek Amana FFA Attends Greenhand Fire-Up

FFA Students attending the Greenhand Fire Up Conference

Annual Greenhand Fire Up Conference for FFA Members

Each year the Southeast district and Iowa FFA officers plan and facilitate Greenhand Fire Up Conferences for FFA members in the Southeast district. Prairie High School welcomed FFA chapters from all over the Southeast district on Monday, September 22, 2025. A total of 655 members from 39 different FFA chapters attended this workshop.

While at Prairie on Monday, district and state officers lead four interactive workshops for first-year high school FFA members, also known as Greenhands, for the annual Greenhand Fire Up Conference. The workshops facilitated were leadership-focused, emphasizing the experiences that occur in the lives of beginning high school students.

Iowa FFA Southeast District President, Iowa FFA President, Chloe Zittergruen, stated, “Greenhand Fire Up provides a chance for first-year high school members to get a sneak peek of the opportunities that FFA holds, and is a conference for members to meet and interact with state and district officers.”

The officers prepared and facilitated workshops on authenticity, balancing priorities, communication, and FFA opportunities – to provide the first-year FFA members with skills they would use both within and outside of FFA. The goal was to engage FFA members in learning about the tools that would allow them to be successful in anything they are part of through high school and beyond. Greenhand Fire Up is made possible with support from the Iowa FFA Foundation.

The Clear Creek Amana Members working to earn their Greenhand Degree this year and went to GreenHand Fire-up were Madyn Albert, Piper Beard, Lucy Bowers, Jack Bricker, Flynn Downes, Eli Fetzer, Colten Hatcher, Lacie Jenkins, Payton Joecken, Kaelyn Johnson, Jacoby Jurgens, Ryan Kruse, Alexis Lovstuen, Elise Malin, Elaina Meade, Bailee Mullinnix, Ella Otto, Otto Phelps, Charlotte Pompo, Kaden Roller, Chance Savage, Madox Schmitz, and Austin Smith. This is a great group of first year FFA members and we wish them all the best.
